Research

Research Techniques

  • Primary Research- This is when you directly gather your own information rather than using information already carried out via the internet, books etc. You can do this in many ways including interviews, photography, observations and even focus groups.
  • Secondary Research- This is when you use already found information to add to your research . You can do this from watching videos, tv, google search, books and even newspapers. This is so you don't have to go out and find your own information.
  • Qualitative Research- This is the when you collect and analyse non-numerical data such as having a conversation with the respondent. This helps the researcher develop a sense of the respondents understanding of the topic as well as the respondent being able to answer freely and in their own words instead of having to choose words given to them via a survey.
  • Quantitative Research- This is when you numerically analyse data based on surveys or polls to control variables of interest.
  • Legal And Ethical Considerations-

  • Production Research

  • Camera- Canon DSLR, This will be used for the filming side of things
  • SD Card- SD card is needed in order to keep all the footage on which will later be exported onto the computer and edited
  • Tripod- This will keep the camera in a still motion so the filming looks more professional instead of shaky footage
  • Sound Recorder- This is used to capture all the sound in the video

The class had to make a storyboard based on a story in which a couple discover a ufo (as seen above) using the app canva.

Copyright

Copyright is the legal right which gives the creator of an original work to the exclusive rights to determine how its used. In other words you cant use anyone else's music videos or any other type of creative work in your videos without their permission, this can even include singing lyrics to a song. When a copyright owner sends a valid legal complaint then YouTube will take down the video as they are required to do so by law. There is also a copyright strikes system in order to prevent multiple uses of copyright strikes, meaning that if you have three strikes then your channel will get terminated. There's no warning for copyright strikes and the first 2 copyright strikes have no impact on your account, but they expire after 90 days.

Content ID

A content id is not the same as a copyright takedown. Content ID creates an ID file for copyrighted audio and video material and stores it in a database. When a video is uploaded, it is checked against the database, and flagged as a copyright violation if a match is found. When this occurs, the content owner has the choice of blocking the video to make it unviewable, tracking the viewing statistics of the video, or adding advertisements to the video with proceeds automatically going to the content owner.

Ethical Considerations

The 5 ethical considerations are:

  • Informed Consent- agreement or permission to do something from someone who has been given full information about the possible effects or results
  • Voluntary Participation-  the people answering questions have made a free choice to be involved in the gathering of information
  • Do No Harm-  taking a step back from an intervention to look at the broader context and mitigate potential negative effects on the social fabric, the economy and the environment
  • Confidentially-  to protect the privacy of human subjects while collecting, analysing, and reporting data
  • Anonymity- collecting data without obtaining any personal, identifying information
  • Only Assess Relevant Components- Only assess those components that are of relevance to the program/initiative being conducted

Community Guidelines

  • Sex and nudity
  • Hate
  • Spam
  • Firearms
  • Harm and Dangerous
  • Child Safety
  • Violent Criminal Organisations
  • Violence
  • Sale Of Illegal Or Regulated Goods And Services
  • Harassment

A Day In The Life Of A Working DJ

Using adobe after effect, we made a video which we could use as an introduction as part of our vlogs, in this case it was "A Day In The Life Of A Working DJ" but we learned how to do this for any topic we wanted to.

This is a video where we practised jump cuts in adobe premiere pro. For this we cut out certain parts of the video to make the video shorter.

This is my mind map for all of my vlog ideas.
