Sound
In a church, where there is a load of space and is mainly made up from hard material and high ceilings, the room becomes reverberant which is why it reverbs if you are recording any sort of audio. It is better to keep a microphone close to your mouth in order for the sound to be better as there will less background noise

In an environment such as your living room where there are low ceilings, soft carpet and many object the room is not reverberant. This type of environment is known as a dry room. Audio will sound a lot more sharp and clearer due to there being no reverb.
What Is 'Reverb'?
Reverb is the persistence of a sound after it has been produced or in other words the way sound bounces off different surfaces in a room. If a room is big, full of hard surfaces, high ceilings and not many objects then there will be a lot of reverb which causes echoes. This opposes to a room with small space, soft surfaces such as carpet, low ceilings and many objects for example your family living room. The sound will not reverb as much.
Sound Recorder
This is a sound recorder which is used to capture audio. There are 2 microphones at the top where you would generally speak into. You can also plug in an additional microphone into a slot at the back in order for a better sound. This is best used with headphones so that you are able to hear back you or whoever's voice is being projected into the microphone to make sure that the quality does not sound muffled or distorted. +

Lavalier Microphone
This is a lavalier microphone which is a small microphone that can be plugged into a sound recorder and then be attached onto an item of clothing. These are used for broadcasting as they are very discreet and can be positioned close to the mouth whilst remaining out of sight.
How To Capture A Good Recording
To capture a good recording, you firstly need to find an area with low reverb for the best and sharp sounding audio as possible in preferably a small room with carpet and objects. After this you want to make sure that you have a sound recorder good enough to capture audio and you must position it in a place where the audio isn't muffled or rubbing against anything and you are able to get a clear sound. Once you start recording make sure you speak clearly but not too close to the mic as it may pick up your breath which can interfere with the recording.

This is the main entrance for the college. Here is where you swipe your card to get access to the rest of the building. This has a high ceiling and hard areas however there are many objects which may effect the level of reverberance but overall it is still more of a reverberant area compared to other rooms in the college.

This is the college stairwell where you would walk up and down to go to different floors opposed to using the lift. This is the most reverberant area of the college as the ceiling is 5 floors up, however it isn't as much of an open space due to the fact of the actual stairs and railings taking up the space but the area is filled with hard surfaces so the sound will bounce off these surfaces creating a reverb.

This is the library where students go to borrow out books or go to study. There is little to no reverb in this room as there is carpet covering the whole of the floor, the ceilings are quite low and the room is surrounded with bookshelves, tables and chairs. This would be the ideal place to go and record audio as there is no reverb and the end product would sound a lot more clean and crisp.
Here is a video in which I placed an audio and multiple clips into adobe premiere pro and made a montage out of it. We had to make the song suitable to the style of videos we had to do which in this case was street dancing.
